Makinde’s IO Promises Inclusive Administration As He Emerges NUJ Chair, Information Chapel

Oyo State Governor’s Office Information officer, Ismail Adewale Fasasi has on Tuesday 2nd November, 2021 been elected as the NUJ Ministry of Information Chapel chairman.

Fasasi, who emerged through consensus was elected and inaugurated by the chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State chapter, Comrade Ademola Babalola alongside other five members.

While delivering his acceptance speech, Comrade Fasasi noted that his administration will rest on four major programmes, which include restoration of the vibrance that has been the pride of the chapel; improved welfare packages for the members, capacity building and training for members as well as promotion of collective responsibility, integrity and accountability.

He said, “It is with honour and humility that today I accept to be the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Information Chapel (NUJIC). My dear comrades, it gladdens my heart to see you all buying into my candidature and to have also nurtured this love to this level for me. Profoundly and heartily, I thank you all.

“It is a known fact, that the decision of the members of this chapel is a pointer that you all craved for change and are eager to take our Chapel to the desired next level. It is indeed my heartfelt joy.
I like to let you know that this victory is neither my own nor my cabinet members’ efforts but the victory for you the members for believing in us.

“With your collective support, we will translate our chapel to an enviable one that we can individually and collectively be proud of.

“By my evaluation of your resolve, I see dedication, commitment, service, resilience, resourcefulness, success, above all, I see the drive needed in transforming our chapel into a strong and purposefully structured one.

“On behalf of all my executive members, I want to pledge our readiness to run an all-inclusive administration with the view of taking the Union to greater heights.

“It is a known fact that the election has come and gone, we are one big family in NUJIC, I, therefore, implore all members of this Chapel to cooperate with us, as your contributions would go a long way in repositioning NUJIC

“At this juncture, let me appreciate our colleagues for giving us a good fight and putting us on our toes, like I did say, we are all members of a big family. I’m assuring you that there is no victor, no vanquished! Your support is also necessary for collective success.
“I still want to reiterate that Our administration will rest on four major programmes, which include restoration of the vibrance, that has been the pride of our chapel, improved welfare packages for the members, capacity building and training for members as well as promotion of collective responsibility, integrity and accountability.

“I will like to conclude with a quote from one of our most renowned philosophers, Helen Keller, who says “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

On his part, the state NUJ Chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola congratulated the new executives and charged them  to uphold the ethics of the union.

He admonished them to see their mandate as a call to service, adding that “you should always think of posterity in all you do.”

He encouraged them to gear up activities of the union at state and chapel levels and ensure that welfare of members is paramount on their minds.
Other executive members inaugurated include; Folake Bamgbose as Vice- chairman, Olamide Adeniji, Secretary, Ibikunle Bukola, Assistant Secretary, Amina Buasari Adeleke, Treasurer and Adeola Adewole, Financial Secretary.

The event was attended by the Hon. Commissioner For Information Wasiu Olatunbosun; Special Assistant on Print Media, Moses Alao; Special Assistant on Broadcast, Bosede Sodiq; Special Assistant on Photography, Dare Aleshinloye and Technical Assistant on New Media, Mayowa Okekale, among others.

Hon. Commissioner of information, Mr Wasiu Olatunbosun congratulate the newly executives while also urging them to try as much as possible to make sure they fulfill their promises to their members and they should also make sure that they support this present administration most especially the management of the ministry of information, culture and tourism.

He said, “on our own part, we will do everything possible to make sure that this administration of NUJ INFORMATION CHAPEL succeed”.
