It would be recalled that, Former Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state recently announced that he and his supporters had joined the Peoples Democratic Party years after leaving the political party. Before returning to PDP, Olusegun Mimiko was a leader of the ZLP in Ondo state. Mimiko made the announcement shortly after meeting with some PDP governors.

It has since been gathered that more top politicians in the South-West may soon return to the PDP because Iyorchia emerged as the party’s new Chairman.

Ex-Governor Rasheed Ladoja

Rasheed Ladoja became the governor of Oyo State in 2003 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. However, his administration experienced a series of events and challenges. By 2010, Ladoja joined the Accord Political Party, and he contested as their governorship candidate during the 2011 and 2015 elections in Oyo state. In 2017, Ladoja returned to PDP. Ladoja eventually joined Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in 2018. Ayu recently revealed that Ladoja called him from Ibadan and later travelled to meet him. The new PDP Chairman claims Ladoja has promised to return to the PDP after learning that he (Ayu) became the party’s Chairman.

Professor Tunde Adeniran

Professor Adeniran was a National Chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2017. Adeniran reportedly walked out of the 2017 PDP convention due to some challenges related to the party’s electoral process. Professor Adeniran, an Ekiti State politician, eventually became the National Leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Ayu claims that Professor Adeniran called him to say that he is returning to PDP, so long as Ayu is the party Chairman.
