One of the opposition parties in Oyo State, Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has said that it is throwing weight behind Governor Seyi Makinde to run for another four years come 2023 following the successful completion of Oyo state congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the success recorded in the last two years plus by the Seyi Makinde led government across all sectors.
This disclosure was made in a communique issued by the Oyo state chapter of ZLP and jointly signed by its state chairman, Comrade Wole Abisoye and State Secretary, Mr. Sulaimon Adedokun which was made available for newsmen at the end of the party’s statewide stakeholders meeting held in Ibadan on Tuesday October 19.
According to the Oyo State chapter of ZLP, Governor Seyi Makinde has displayed rare gallantry in the way and manner he has fared so far in the delivery of good governance as well as management of PDP affairs in the state.
Comrade Abisoye in the communique specially commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the successful conduct of the state congress of PDP which he said was devoid of any form of violence and acrimony at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Saturday.
The party urged Governor Makinde to run for second term of four years in office assuring of ZLP’s maximum support as a result of the success recorded so far by the Governor.
“We commend His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde for the successful holding of the party’s state congress on Saturday 16th October, 2021 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan”.
“We also congratulate the newly elected Chairman, Honourable Dayo Ogungbenro and his team, our prayer is that they shall lead us to the promised land”.
“We salute the efforts and courage being used by His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde in steering the ship of Oyo state which has so far shown that he is a performer”.
“We urge his Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde to run for second term in office in order to take the state to the expected next level”.
“We appeal to the aggrieved members of the party to (PDP) to find a common ground with His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde to move the party forward to an enviable position”.
“Also, we implore the general public to continue supporting the Seyi Makinde led government.” The communique reads.
The opposition party also also congratulates former First Lady and wife of former governor of Oyo state, Chief Mrs. Mutiat Olayinka Ladoja on her emergence as member of PDP Board of Trustee (BoT)
