The Unity Forum in Oyo APC has described Adebayo Alao-Akala led Elders Advisory Committee as illegal and however condemned it for lack of power to constitute Zoning Committee for the next state congress.
This was contained in a communique issued after its meeting held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.
According to the communique, “We, the undersigned critical stakeholders and concerned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, met on Wednesday 0ctober 6, 2021 to deliberate on the purported constitution of a committee to zone party offices among other matters by a so-called Advisory Committee in the party.
After extensive deliberation, we resolved as follows:
“The constitution of the committee on zoning by the so-called Advisory committee is alien to the constitution and practice of the APC.
“The so-called Advisory Elders Advisory Commiittee is itself illegal because the attempt by stakeholders of the party to establish one on September 20,2020 ended in a stalemate.
“The constitution of the zoning committee was undertaken without due consultation with critical stakeholders in the party.
” The path to a rancour-free state congress in the state is the truthful engagement of critical stakeholders without a clandestine design to foist any group or candidate on
the party.
“We implore leaders in the party to live up to the expectations of the exalted positions they hold in the party and government.
” We restate our loyalty and commitment to the party under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.
