The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr Rauf Olaniyan has praised the efforts of past Nigerian leaders whose painstaking roles eventually culminated in independent anniversary that is being celebrated across the country today.
Olaniyan, while felicitating Nigerians on occasion of 61st anniversary that the county attains today, enjoined people to throw weight behind Governor Seyi Makinde’s led government.
This was contained in a felicitation message, issued by his media team and made available to news men.
He said, “it is a fundamental truth, that October 1st of every year in Nigeria is one of historical dates which the Country and her Leaders cannot take for granted”.
“It is worthy of appreciation to God Almighty that this year’s independent day is coming at a time while all and sundry could come together in an elaborate way like this to commemorate the date that was bequeathed by the late heroes and patriots”.
“Unlike last year’s occasion that was celebrated in a low key, sequel to coronavirus pandemic that ravaged the nooks and crannies of the country and almost paralyzed all activities and most importantly, economic prosperity of the state and country at large”.
“This year’s commemoration calls for funfair and merrymaking, that we have the grace and rare opportunity to sit comfortably under same roof on this unique day appreciating and acknowledging the efforts of past Leaders who toiled days and nights to secure independence for Nigeria”.
“It has to be made clear that, this is the country of ours, where we have to come together irrespective of our religions and political platforms to make it stronger, more united and prosperous”.
“The current administration of Oyo State that is ably led by Engr Seyi Makinde has not reneged on promises earlier made to make Oyo State attains enviable heights”.
” Persistent and relentless efforts are being made to ascertain that Oyo State remains a Pacesetter”.
“Security of lives and properties is another indispensable area where the government is having sleepless nights to ensure that the citizens are sleeping with two eyes closed. Recruitment of Western Nigerian Security Network code named Operation Amotekun has been complementing the efforts of Nigerian Police Force and other Security Agencies in the state, to arrest the ugly events of insecurity and make the state more secured”.
“Other areas like Agriculture, Health and other significant ones are not left untouched as all hands are on deck to make the dream of the best Oyo State come to fruition”, Olaniyan ended
