There was an apprehension at Omilabu community in Akinyele Local Government, Ibadan, Oyo State on Sunday as residents of the area cried out over alleged indiscriminate shooting at the shooting range by the Nigeria Army, 2 Division, Odogbo Barracks.
Speaking on the development, the lawmaker representing Akinyele Constituency 1, at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Ayotunde Fatokun asked the people of the area to be calm and law abiding.
Fatokun who spoke against the backdrop of the mishaps, the shootings could cause in the community, noting that many houses have already been affected by the bullets.
He however appreciated the efforts of the community leaders, women and youths for their understanding and peaceful co-existence in the community.
Fatokun has appealed to the GOC of the 2 Division, Odogbo Barracks to look into this issue of shooting that has become a recurring decimal to avoid further destruction of property and total avoidance of fatality.
He also noted that development has caught up with the Shooting Range of the Baracks and an urgent intervention is required.
