Introduction of Community Traffic Management System Has Compelled Road’s Users To Comply — OYRTMA Boss, Akin Fagbemi

The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority(OYRTMA), Mogaji Akin Fagbemi said that the introduction of Community Traffic Management System in Ibadan and across the pacesetter state had compelled the road’s users to act in line with traffic regulations guiding the free flow of vehicles.

Fagbemi disclosed this on Saturday, September 11 while featuring on Splash Radio Station(105.5 FM), Ibadan anchored by Edmund Obilo, monitored by naijatodaynews.com.ng

OYRTMA Boss stressed that they have engaged the community stakeholders on purpose that centred on training, in order to make the new community traffic management system operational.

He equally asserted that OYRTMA had procured the reflective jackets for all the engaged hands who are task officers to checkmate the erring and disobeyed motorists, motorcyclists and tricyclists among others.

Fagbemi said that the introduction and implementation of the system became significant in Oyo State, so as to prevent lawless use of roads by the road’s users and most especially the commercial ones.

He stressed that for over 2 years he had come on board, application of dynamism has been strategy he has been applying in tackling the myriads of challenges and obstacles associated with traffic gridlocks in some parts of the state and prevalent disobedience of the road’s users.

Fagbemi said Ibadan remains a cosmopolitan city with demographic status of residents, stressing that the current free flow of vehicles in Sango, Aleshinloye, Challenge, Iwo road and other areas in the ancient city was consequent upon his firm decisions to be on top of the game and deal decisively with the erring ones irrespective of their status and positions in the society.

He said that the agency had not relaxed on giving proper education to the motorists, motorcyclists and tricyclists on importance attached to the road signs.

Fagbemi expatiated that Red, Yellow and Green Colours are serving different functions, he justifies that red means stop, yellow signifies be ready and while green shows you are to go.

On area of personnel, he said his agency in conjunction with the state government was doing everything possible to ensure that capable and sufficient numbers of personnel are in place to do the job effectively.

Fagbemi however warned people with overloading and those selling on the walk way to comply strictly with the rules of operation, stressing that the full wrath of the law will catch those who are violating the rules and regulations.
