The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has suspended Sulaimon Adamu, the caretaker committee chairman of Yola South Local Government for making frivolous and unguarded statement against the person of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The party also formed a seven-man disciplinary committee led by Saidu Naira to investigate allegations of gross indiscipline levelled against the suspended chairman and his co-travellers during its State Working Committee (SWC) meeting.

The disciplinary committee was formed in response to a viral audio clip in which the chairman of the Yola South chapter was heard saying that it would have been better if President Muhammadu Buhari had died from a coronavirus and that Osinbajo would have been a better replacement.

According to information obtained by this medium, Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, the state’s immediate past governor, attended the meeting on Sunday at the residence of Prince Mustapha Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha in Yola. Other attendees include Kabiru Mijinyawa, the state house of assembly’s immediate past speaker, and Abubakar Sirimbai, the suspended party chairman and former chairman of the Namtari development area.

According to a statement signed by the party’s spokesman, Mohammed Abdullahi, the party will not tolerate any form of indiscipline, regardless of who is responsible.

“As a party, we came across an audio clip originating from our party’s stakeholders meeting in Yola South Local Government that is circulating widely on social media.

” In light of the foregoing, we held an emergency SWC meeting today (10/08/2021), during which the audio clip was replayed, digested, and discussed.

“At the end of the day, it was discovered that some of the audio clip’s words/remarks were extremely unfortunate and warrant further investigation. “As a result, the SWC has formed a seven-member disciplinary committee to investigate the issues raised in the audio clip and make appropriate recommendations for action. Alhaji Saidu Maitalata (Naira) is the chairman; Barrister Shagnah Pwamaddi is the secretary; Alhaji Abdullahi Wali is a member; Alhaji Mohammed Raji Suleiman is a member; Mr Obed Shadrach is a member; Alhaji Babangida Majekano Talase is a member, and Mr Jonah Haruna is a member.

“The SWC has resolved that the APC Caretaker Chairman, Yola South Local Government (Alh. Suleiman Adamu), who is a member of the State Executive Committee, be suspended pending the outcome of the investigation by the 7-man disciplinary committee, to ensure an unhindered investigation and fair hearing. “In the meantime, the APC Local Government Vice Chairman (Alh. Adamu Majekano) has been appointed acting chairman of Yola South. “Finally, we urge all of our stakeholders at all levels not to allow any type of unpleasant comments/remarks during Party meetings,” the statement concluded.
