The Chieftain of People Democratic Party, in Oyo State, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan has revealed Popoola Joshua, POJ as the party governorship aspirant for 2023 general election.
Olopoeyan in a radio interview held in Ibadan, unveiled POJ and however talked about the administration of Engineer Seyi Makinde and alleged that the governor has caused the disunity in the party because he failed to work up to expectations of the members.
He noted that the fracas started when the governor failed to give the slots of the positions of his administration to those who worked to ensure he emerged the winner.
He said, “The governorship tenure of Seyi Makinde was done with parallel congress of which those that came from Abuja, people like Senator Imoke went to Baba Ladoja and did theirs at his place, they didn’t come to us. They did it in Abuja and removed secretary, it was the removal of the secretary that led to their anger. So, it’s a parallel government we have.
Anyone who was not in the party or wasn’t involved from the start can’t dictate for them, those that can only dictate are the people in Abuja. No one can chase them away from the party, the office will be opened after the holiday, we allow them do whatever they want to do with the office.
And speaking about National presidential election for 2023, he said not until we see someone that comes out and make his intention to be a president known, although we have been seeing traces of some people campaigning Asiwaju Bola Ahmed and he has not said anything contrary to it so it’s obvious he has interest.
Atiku is already among the aspirants , so not until we see those acquiring for the post, that’s when we can decide who to party or partner with for the presidential election. But as for me, I will be glad if Yoruba candidate can pursue the post and if it’s still Hausa, God should elect his own Man for the post that will direct us in the right path.
If Yoruba should be a president even if we don’t know each other there will be someone who we link us with him or if Fayose of PDP party goes for the post Alhaji olopoeyan is also a president as he implies. Everyone wants his/her people to be in the post, so it’s always a previledge to have someone close to you in that position, it brings happiness.
If Seyi Makinde calls for a visit to settle the disagreement, I may not want to go there because there is danger. All the dangers I have been sighting are from Engineer Seyi Makinde imagine they invaded my area with lots of bikes and cars when there was neither mayhem in the area nor distress call placed on them.
And when there was mayhem in Iwo road, all these people that came to my area were just watching, and mind you, all these shenanigans wouldn’t help them to win the next election. And even they give him ticket, there will be opposition from other party.
And when asked if Baba Ladoja is aware of what is going on or maybe he doesn’t listen to him, he said he doesn’t know because he didn’t report anyone to him.
Had it been that what Engineer Seyi Makinde and Baba Ladoja agreed upon are fulfilled, those that defected to APC will not, persons of Sarafadeen Ali, Lanlehin
And you see, a lot of people had wanted to leave our party too, we were the one persuading them not to leave. And future of the party is still bright because another person has shown interest and that the person of Popoola Joshua, POJ and some other aspirants may also show interest so nothing will happen to the party.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed called for me when he came to Ibadan and I honored his invitation and I’m ready to go to him anytime any day he calls for me and likewise, I don’t need anybody’s assistance before I could meet anyone from other party, I may decide to meet Adelabu or Teslim or any other person.
And there is nobody that will dismember me in PDP and it is not a company therefore it’s not possible to dismantle the party.
Let’s talk about 2022 election in Osun before 2023, I believe PDP will be elected in that state. There’s misunderstanding everywhere even in Ekiti state, it’s even in Oyo state that there should no be quarrel because the party was formed here. So that’s what he doesn’t understand. With what is on ground and happening in Osun state, PDP party will be elected.
You can only support a person, you can’t support two at a time, when I supported Engineer Seyi Makinde I faced him alone. I support one person at a time, and talk about Adelabu, I had never met him before in person not until last year.
Congress election is on the way so there’s nothing like taking money to anyone in Abuja because they all have money already so let’s watch what happens until then.
There’s no quarrel or argument in PDP, the party and government stands differently. Those that are annoyed are not happy with Seyi Makinde because he doesn’t take good care of the party members.
People are surprised with the way Seyi Makinde did because he didn’t reward them as expected.
Alhaji olopoeyan added that he had acquired all what he has before he met the governor Seyi Makinde and he is still acquiring a lot, saying that it’s not Seyi that made him what he is.And everyone knows, including himself that I worked really hard the most for him.
The governor doesn’t put any of the member of the party in government position and there are lots of positions that can be filled with them and that’s the reason for our quarrel. He failed to fulfill promise by giving positions to those that worked for him but picked those that were not known before the election for the positions.
Kolapo Ishola, Lam Adesina, Ladoja and Alao Akala has done for this state. 70% of people were drawing Baba Ladoja back when he had argument with Adedibu.
Alhaja mulika was given two slots for commissioner but those names she tendered were not given the position.
No one can dictate for the governor, they can’t tell him to bring money but had it mean they were given the position, they will all be fine on their own.
Seyi Makinde with some people, of blessed memory came to my house in 2011 that he wanted to acquire the position of a leader.
So I took him to local government to show up to others, including Fahinto, he knows how I pushed him to the level of government.
