2021 African Minifootball Nation’s Cup: Ghana Knocks Out Nigeria At Quarter Finals As Oluyemi Taiwo Scolds FG, Oyo State For Not Providing Logistics

Ghanaian Minifootball Team has knocked out its counterpart, Nigeria Minifootball Team at the quarter finals of the ongoing 2021 African Mini football Nation’s Cup, taking place at Ilaji Sports’ Centre, Oloyo Village, Akanran Ibadan, Oyo State.

The match that took place on Thursday, July 15 ended 1-1 draw after official regulated hours, before penalty shootout which ended 3-2 in favour of Ghana was refereed.

Hon. Oluyemi Adewale Taiwo, President Nigerian Minifootball Association while speaking with the journalists scolded Federal Government of Nigeria and Oyo State and over failure to provide logistics and motivation for the team before the commencement of the tournament.

Taiwo added that, if governments had provided the needed logistics and motivation, the team would not have been exited the tournament. Stressing that the players only began the preparation for the tournament, a month to the exercise.

The lawmaker commended the players for coming out stronger, more skillful and courageous against Ghana, only that penalty shootout respects no skills and talents but luck.

He said that despite Nigeria exited at the quarter finals stage, its exit and failure to qualify for the next semifinals could not prevent it from qualifying for world cup.

In same vein, The Chief Coach, Nigerian Minifootball Team, Fabian Etaba toed the same path of Adewale Taiwo, hailing the players for giving good account of themselves and showed courage, skills and talents to reach the stage.

Etaba stressed that despite the team was not given the necessary logistics and motivation for the tournament, it did its best and gave good representation at the tournament.

He said that he and the players would need to go back to the drawing board to strategize ahead of the subsequent editions of the tournament and other appropriate matches needed to build the team the more.
