An Ibadan-based sociopolitical group, ‘New Hope’ has felicitated the Oyo gubernatorial candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in 2019 general elections, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin on attainment of 68 years of age.

The message of felicitation was contained in a statement signed by the duo of Pastor Gbenga Ajibodu, Chairman and Hon. Akin Morakinyo, Secretary which was made available to naijatodaynews.com

According to the statement,”on the occasion of his 68th birthday today, 8 July, 2021, an Ibadan-based sociopolitical group, New Hope, has felicitated with frontline politician and lawyer, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin (Solan)”.

“New Hope, in a press statement by its Chairman, Pastor Gbenga Ajibodu and Secretary, Hon. Akin Morakinyo, extolled the qualities of Lanlehin, particularly his commitment to the welfare of the people and dedication to progressive politics, which has seen his name etched in the memories and hearts of the people as a ” true friend of the masses”, urged the former Oyo South Senator to continue threading the noble path he’s become accustomed to, in the service to his people”.

“For Nigeria to develop and reach its full potentials, men of character and conviction like Lanlehin are needed in virtually all sectors. People like him will not only prioritize the people’s welfare, they’ll also ensure accountability and probity, in the course of doing so,” the group added”.

“New Hope, a group comprised of prominent professionals, consequently admonished today’s politicians to learn selflessness and dedication to worthy causes from Lanlehin, believing that in the end, a good name, is worth more than gold”.

“Senator Olufemi Lanlehin (Solan), New Hope recalls, commenced participation in partisan politics in Lagos, in the late 80s, when he joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP), on whose platform he got elected into the House of Representatives to represent Ikeja Federal Constituency from 1992 to 1993. He was in 1999 appointed a Member of the Lagos State Executive Council, serving as Commissioner for Special Duties and later special Adviser to the Governor. He would later on represent Oyo South Senatorial District from 2011 to 2015, when he moved over to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, among other noteworthy Federal and State appointments”.

“Till date, New Hope noted, that functioning projects executed by Lanlehin, while in office, still dot the landscape of the various constituencies he’s been opportuned to serve, several years after. This, the group maintains, is the trademark of a politician with a difference, and the reason the group finds Lanlehin worthy of celebration”.

“Closing, New Hope wishes Senator Olufemi Lanlehin (Solan), God’s gracious goodness, now and in the years ahead”, the statement ended.
