The Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content and lawmaker representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Teslim Folarin celebrates the Otu-born erudite professor of political science and Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission, Barr. Adeolu Akande has he clocks 56 years.
The Ayingun Olubadan, in a goodwill message he personally signed and made available to journalists in Ibadan on Friday, eulogized the NCC Chairman, describing him as an erudite scholar, embodiment of humility, hard work and diligence. He said he knew the celebrant almost 40 yeaars ago as a quite, erudite scholar and tenacious gentleman who is committed to excellent service delivery service.
“Adeolu was my classmate in the Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan. Throughout our years in the Premier University, he exemplified that he was dedicated scholar and the spirit is still there till tomorrow. My friend is a trailblazer!” Folarin said.
The three-term senator noted that Prof. Adeolu is not only an accomplished academic with uncommon charismatic leadership prowess but also his contributions to nation building are enormous.
Senator Folarin prayed for continuous success of the political scientist.
In the PDP-led Federal Government, Prof. Adeolu Akande was appointed deputy chief press secretary of Vice President Atiku Abubakar in 2001. In 2003, Akande became special assistant for research and communication strategies to President Olusegun Obasanjo.
In 2011, Akande was appointed chief of staff to Governor Abiola Ajimobi. Akande was appointed Professor of comparative politics by Igbinedion University in July 2017.
Until his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Governing Board of NCC, Prof. Akande was the Chairman, Board of National Information Technology Development Agency, (NITDA).
