The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has asked Cross River State Governor, Sen. Ben Ayade to pack already as the party has come to reclaim the state. Secondus stated this on Monday, June 14, during the commissioning of the new Cross River State PDP Secretariat (Annex) and the inauguration of the Caretaker Committee in Calabar.
Addressing the massive crowd of PDP supporters, leaders and stalwarts, Secondus said: “We have come to see if Cross River is still PDP. This is just to send a signal and quit notice to Ben Ayade.
“Ayade start to pack now! He has been here for 6 years, nothing to show; the youths are hungry, people are suffering. Across Nigeria, it is only PDP states that are delivery democratic dividends. Continuing, the PDP Chairman said “When I heard of food on the table, I asked, which food on the table? It is the APC blood that is on the table. Cross River has had good governors; Donald Duke transformed Cross River State, Ayade came and killed everything. Where is Tinapa that Duke built? Ayade has killed it. Another performing governor the state has had is Sen. Liyel Imoke; he did well as a governor.
“Ayade is regretting today, most APC governors want to come to PDP. We are returning the party to the youths – nobody can stop you from tweeting, Instagramming”, he said. Speaking also, Mr Udom Emmanuel, Governor of Akwa Ibom State said South-South, Cross River, Akwa Ibom are all PDP. “Which Governors are bringing planes into Calabar? PDP. I want to assure you that we are PDP”, he said.
On his part, Mahdi Aliyu Gusau, Deputy Governor of Zamfara State said: “We are determined to reclaim what belongs to us. PDP in 2023 will restructure and revive Nigeria”. Inaugurating the Cross River State PDP Caretaker Committee, Uche Secondus said: “On behalf of the leadership of the party, we hereby inaugurate the Caretaker Committee to function fully at the state level”, while congratulating the National Assembly(NASS) and State House of Assembly Members who refused to defect to the All Progressives Congress(APC) with Governor Ayade.
Mr Efiok Cobham, former Deputy Government and the newly inaugurated Cross River State PDP Caretaker Committee Chairman said his leadership will carry the party higher than it was. “We want to assure you that we will carry the party higher. PDP is Cross River, Cross River is PDP – we want to assure you that”, Cobham said.
Those present at the event were Sen. Bukola Saraki, former Senate President; Mr Peter Obi, former PDP Vice Presidential candidate and Governor of Anambra State; Sen. Liyel Imoke, former governor of the state; Mr Donald Duke, former governor of the state who just defected from the SDP to the PDP recently; Sen.
