The chieftain of People Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Femi Babalola has said that the party will not allow any individual to disintegrate the party system.

While speaking with the journalist, Babalola revealed that it is the duty of the stakeholders of the party to ensure that the party regain its strength and confidence is restored into minds of its members.

He said, “PDP has a constitution and it allocates responsibility to elders and leaders, stakeholders of the party. If you feel that the party is not being handled well, not being run well, the leaders can come on. It’s like a rescue mission. And that’s what we are doing.”

“We know that the party is not doing what it should do, so we want to make sure we give it a confidence. The party is strong, the party is well, we just need to give the people confidence. All is well.”

“Because we know that there are spies there, there are vultures and we don’t want APC to capture our people in the name of “nothing is happening” within our party”.

When asked about the faction recognized by the national PDP, he said, “We have just one executive in Oyo state and it’s being led by Kunle Mustapha, he is the chairman of the party. We are just trying to strengthen his weakness. He is weak and the party is crumbling, and we don’t want our party to crumble”

“You reconcile when you’re fighting, the reconciliation is an English word, we use it when there is feud between two or more people,” he added when he was asked how the stakeholders are planning to make reconciliation possible among the concerned chieftains of the party.

“You know Governor Makinde is a governor and governorship is a different thing entirely. You noticed no one discussed government in what has been said so far. Seyi Makinde heads government and no one is contesting that.”

“We are bothered about the party, we are the owner of the party. We don’t want the party to disintegrate, it is the party we are after not the government. He was the one voted for and he has the right on how he wants to govern. But when it comes to the matter of the party, we are the owner of the party. We can’t watch to see our party crumble.”Oyo PDP:We are after the party not the government, we don’t want party disintegration”.

“At some times, we were the one nurturing the party. I joined PDP in 1998, I have no other party. I can’t watch the party crumble. That’s the effort we are trying to put in place.”

“My advice for Seyi Makinde is that he should run the government to the best he can do, to his best ability”, Babalola ended.
