An aspirant into House of Representatives, Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/ Kajola Federal Constituency, Hon.(Engr.) Soliu Adebare Gbadamosi Badmos has described the killings of 5 Iseyin Youths by men of Nigeria Customs Service and Excise as a disaster of monumental proportion on a blissful day that Muslims across the world celebrated the fruitful completion of holy month of Ramadan.
Ileroborn Engineer who maintains to contest under the banner of All Progressives Congress(APC)scolded in strong terms, the killing of 5 persons by men of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), on Eid-l-Fitr day.
IRE 2023 however enjoined the sons and daughters of Iseyin Community to be law abiding in seeking justice and fairness over the dastardly and callous killings allegedly orchestrated by men of NCS and Excise.
In a statement he personally signed and made available to naijatodaynews.com , says five residents who were in a joyous mood over the occasion of Eid-l-Fitr were hit by stray bullets during an encounter between Customs officers and smugglers.
He condemned the act in entirety as the encounter had no doubt left five persons dead instantly while the men of NCS and Excise eventually drove off.
Hon Badmos while commiserating with bereaved families, urged protesting residents to remain calm and be law abiding in seeking for justice and fairness over the dastardly and devilish acts.
Parts of the statement read:
“I am deeply concerned, worried and saddened that this dastardly and devilish act is recurring so soon, after the invasions of Ibadan markets by men of Nigeria Customs Service”
While I do not support economic sabotage, I strongly condemn the needless killings. Recklessness and unprofessional conduct by the constituted security personnel can no longer be tolerated.
“The men of Nigeria Customs and Excise’ operation ahead of 40 kilometres inland away from the international borders was a total aberration to law and cannot be justified by any logic”.
I am of the believe that if the officers of NCS had demonstrated patriotic zeal in the discharge of their duties at the border posts and several custom checking points located along the roads leading from the borders, the public would have been saved of the agonies and needless loss of lives”.
“ It is high time the NCS and other law Enforcement Agents embraced proper decorum and civility in the discharge of their duties in order to avoid acts capable of breaching public peace and putting the government in a bad light among the citizenry.
“While I’m commiserating, I’m equally enjoining the victims’ families, Iseyin sons and daughters to be calmed, law abiding on pursuance of Justice over the wicked incident”. Badmos concluded.
