Sequel to Senate President’s intervention and mandate given to the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to investigate the recent night invasion of rice traders’ shops at Bodija Market, Ibadan, Oyo State, suspectedly by men of the Nigerian Customs Service(NCS).

Oyo residents have commended the Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District at the hallow chamber of the House of Senate, Senator Muhammed Kola Balogun for his quick and prompt intervention against the alleged invasion of Bodija Rice Market by men of Nigerian Customs Service (NCS).

The residents described Senator Kola Balogun’s prompt intervention which orchestrated the Senate’s probes of Customs’ Night Invasion of Bodija Rice Market as a welcome development that deserves applause and commendation.

They said that Senator Kola Balogun’s response and action towards a petition from the Ibadan Foodstuff Sellers Association addressed to the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan via him was a square peg in a square hole which has been yielding fruitful and positive results.

Naijatodaynews.com in an interaction with a trader at Bodija Market, who spoke under the condition of anonymity said Kola Balogun had done what is expected of a true representative by swiftly responding to their calls over an injustice being meted on them by men of NCS who allegedly invaded their shops overnight and carted away countless bags of rice, valuable items and millions of naira.

The anonymous trader described Senator Kola Balogun as someone who is worthy as a leader for his effrontery and concern to table their case before the senate leadership.

Another trader who equally remains as an anonymous respondent hailed the Senator for his good intention and willingness to receive the letter of petition and submitted it to the Senate President for action which has obviously led to mandate given to the appropriate committee to probe the customs’ alleged dastardly acts.

The trader commended Senator Kola Balogun, the Senate President and House Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition for an investigation over the alleged invasion of their shops by men of Nigerian Customs Service(NCS), urging them not to sweep the matter under the carpet.

Adewale James, a respondent from Ibadan lavished encomiums on Senator Kola Balogun for embarking on action which will make the traders whose shops were burgled by men of NCS to get justice.

James enjoined other leaders in the state and beyond to emulate the Senator who despite his own tasks and other significant matters took the traders’ case up.
