Oyo PDP Primary: Oyo Deputy Speaker, Abiodun Fadeyi Goes Against Makinde Over Choice of Candidate; Organises Parallel Primaries

The Deputy Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Muhammed Fadeyi was said to have been displeased with emergence of Hon.Musbau Adeshina Sanusi Shabba as the candidate of People’s Democratic Party, PDP for Ona-Ara Local Government.

Shabba who is the current Caretaker Chairman, Ona-Ara Local Government, Ibadan had been emerged the candidate of PDP for local government election that is slated for Saturday, May 15.

Mr Wale Kareem, the returning officer for the exercise at Ona-Ara LG announced Shabba as a consensus candidate, sequel to his endorsement by the party stakeholders without any counter from any one of them.

In another vein, the Deputy Speaker, Fadeyi was said to have been displeased with emergence of Shabba whose emergence was orchestrated and had the blessing of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Fadeyi in his displeasure with the candidature of Shabba, mobilsed some of the party leaders, loyalists and members of PDP in Ona-Ara LG to a venue contrary to where the legitimate primaries would be conducted.

Fadeyi while at the venue welcomed all and sundry to the venue and appealed to them to exercise patience for the arrival of the returning officer.

Naijatodaynews.com had it that, Fadeyi went to the venue with some men of Oyo Police Force with their intent to see to the smooth and transparent process of the election.

He said that the venue they all converged at Akanran was the authentic venue where the primaries should be conducted, stressing that PDP remains a noble party which should allow internal democracy to fester.

Fadeyi reiterated that Ona-Ara does not belong to one person and an attempt to impose unpopular candidate on all has equivalence of autocracy and dictatorship.

He unfolded two chairmanship aspirants whose one’s name is Ife Akande,who had got prepared to face one another at the primaries.

Durodekun, a chieftain of the party, called attention of Makinde to principles of fairplay, transparency and openness to democratic process, stressing that imposition will not only render the democracy useless but kill the party.

Ife Akande frowned at the primaries that produced Shabba as Ona-Ara LG candidate for the forthcoming election, saying such decision remains undemocratic.
