Nigerian Army Commissions Rehabilitated Corporal Below Quarters

Adequate quartering has been described as core to the actualization of the vision of the Chief of Army Staff’s (COAS) Maj Gen Ibrahim Attahiru.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Anthony Bamidele Omozoje stated this at the commissioning ceremony of 3 remodeled and renovated Corporal below quarters at Ekehuan Barracks, Benin city, Edo State.

The GOC stated that to achieve the vision of the COAS, which is “to have a Nigerian Army that is repositioned to professionally defeat all adversaries in a joint environment’’; Commanders were to note that repositioning in terms of administration is both key and focal. He commended the immediate past Brigade Commander Brig Gen Usman Bello under whom the project was initiated for exhibiting responsible leadership.

He noted the fact that the project was executed without the financial support of the Division even makes it more worthy of commendation.
The GOC charged commanders to be “responsive leaders who are focused, forward looking and empathetic; whose leadership will bequeath to subordinates and the system benefits and opportunities of being in position of authority’’.

He urged the incumbent Brigade Commander, Brig Gen Abubakar Sadiq to do more and surpass the achievements of his predecessor. He noted that 4 Brigade is fortunate to have Commanders who are very focused. He prayed God help the Chief of Army Staff Maj Gen Ibrahim Attahiru to take the Nigerian Army to the next higher level, and for Commanders at various level to improve facilities on the ground for the wellbeing of soldier’s families across all Barracks and Cantonments.

Ealier, in his welcome address, the Commander, 4 Brigade, Brig Gen Abubakar Sadiq eulogized the leadership style of his predecessor, Brig Gen Usman Bello, which placed priority on the welfare of personnel. He stated that he will follow his good steps with the renovation of more blocks and address other welfare priorities within the Barracks
