Oyo Insecurity: Oyo Caretaker Chairman, FM Cautions Residents On Escalation of Ethnic Crisis

The Caretaker Chairman, Iseyin South, Local Council Development(LCDA), Iseyin Local Government of Oyo State, Hon. Fasasi Raheem Ajibola FM has cautioned residents to avoid issues which are capable of escalating ethnic crisis in Iseyinland and its environs.

FM sounded this warning in his office at Molete/Koso while holding peace and Security Meeting with the community leaders whose composition cut across the Yorubas and other ethnic groups.

The Council Boss reiterated that the residents are to do away with issues,enemity, malicious expressions and emotional feelings which are meant to trigger tension and ethnic crisis in the community and beyond.

FM made mentioned of ethnic crisis which occurred at Shasha Market, Ibadan where the Hausa Community and Yorubas in the area engaged one another in a fierce battle that culminated into loss of countless lives and properties.

He added that the similar scenario needed to be avoided and any issue that is capable of triggering such sad incident is to be precluded and outrightly nip in the bud.

FM called attention of the stakeholders in attendance to the fact that all are Nigerians, and anybody is constitutionally allowed to live where ever he/she likes, but such Nigerian is also compelled to see to the peace, unity, love and togetherness of the area of abode.

On recent misunderstanding that almost caused brouhaha between the Hausas and Yorubas at Jalumi axis of Iseyinland, FM enjoined the Seriki of Hausa Community and Chairman of Jalumi Community to ensure they continue to relate together harmoniously and avoid issues and slanderous words which are capable of promoting tension and sentimental crisis.

He hailed the duo for displaying leadership qualities that were targeted at dousing tension and calming the warring factions, stressing that they should continue to hold and organize constant community meetings for the progress of the area.

Alhaji Saka Tesleem, The Head of Local Government Administration, HLGA advised the community leaders to have knowledge of all inhabitants living in the area and ensure no one is allowed to perpetrate any heinous crime.

The Chairman, Jalumi Community, Alhaji Abdul Rasheed Lowo-Ori and Seriki Hausa Community in Iseyin, Alhaji Sulaiman Usman thanked FM and others for their timely intervention and promised that the needful will be done to ensure unity and peaceful co-existence.
