COAS, Attahiru Inaugurates 900 Hostel Bedding Facilities in Saki

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, has inaugurated 900 hostel bedding capacity building at the Command Science Secondary School, Saki area of Oyo State.

Attahiru, represented by Maj.Gen. Anthony Omozoje,the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division of the Nigeria Army inaugurated the project on Friday in Saki.

Attahiru said the inauguration of the hostel facilities was in furtherance of the Nigeria Army deliberate programme to give all the students in the Command School System a very best living accommodation.

He said that the facility would contribute to the wellbeing of the students and help them to live better lives.

“The Command School Sytem of the Nigeria Army were instituted as part of the Federal Government programe for personnel where dependants can get qualitative education at a subsidise rate.

“Nigeria Army being people’s army has started citing some of the Command Schools within the host communities,departing from the practice of having them within the barrack.

“The essence is for the host communities’ children to benefit from the Nigeria Army offers.

“In the command secondary schools you don’t only get a very good education but also get the discipline and character that the Nigeria Army are known for,”Attauiru said.

The COAS appreciated Gov. Seyi Makinde, the Okere of Sakiland,Oba Khalid Oyedepo and other traditional rulers in Oke- Ogun area of the state for their support.

Attahiru assured the people of Oyo State and Nigeria in general adequate security,saying the Nigeria Army are up to the task.

Earlier, the Oba of Sakiland, commended the COAS for the project and other ongoing army projects in the community describing them as huge.

Oyedepo said that Oke-Ogun area of the state which the people are predominantly farmers consist of 10 Local Government Areas and had been abandoned interms of projects execution until the assistance of the army in that regards.

He solicited for more projects from the Nigeria army, saying they are ready to provide them land without collecting any compensation.

The Okere of Sakiland also requested for the presence of more military personnel in the area as a result of current security threats witnessed in the area.
