The first Executive Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande is dead.
The announcement of Jakande’s death was contained in a piece of information that was released by Governor Babajide Sanwolu on his twitter handle.
According to him”with gratitude to God for a worthy life well spent in the service of Lagos State, Nigeria and humanity, I announce the death of a venerable statesman, outstanding politician, public administrator and the first Civilian Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande”.
Late Lateef Jakande was the first executive Governor of Lagos State who assumed office in 1979 under the platform of Action Group(AG) party formed by late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
