OPINION: APC And Her Social Media Hooliganism | Yomi Ojo

Spread the love

It is high time Government and security agency step into the cases of fake news on social media platforms, online newspapers and some journalists spreading fake news to cause panick across the state.

Barely 24 hours after some social media handlers, online newspapers and some journalists carried a pathetic news about 200 burnt houses in some part of Ibadan city, No reputable online newspaper or those fake news peddlers and blogger as posted the pictures of the incident.

The saddest part of the news was the popular Saharareporter that carried the news without any investigation or verification.

I am still asking myself if those fake news reporters have an interior motive or there is a sponsor somewhere that’s sending them on a journey to disrupt the peace the state is enjoying ?

I am seeing another dimension of bad politics using insecurity as a tool to destabilize a sitting Governor and his good initiatives and intentions.

Let me use this opportunity to call on the Government of Engr Seyi Makinde to take the issue of fake news in the state very serious and also continue to motivate and charge the security agencies in the state to do more so to put a stop to political influenced violence in the state.

Finally, let me advice APC to stop playing politics with lives of the good people of the state and stop spreading fake news that can cause confusion or disturb the peace in the state.

May Almighty God continue to be with us and Oyo State at large!
