The Caretaker Chairman, Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State, Hon.(Alhaji) Chief Salimonu Adebayo Afolabi Borikansunwon has distributed empowerment materials to women and youths of the council area in order to empower them and improve their lots.
The empowerment materials which are characterised as Bajaj Motorcycles, Deep Freezers, Hair Dryers, Sewing Machines, Grinding Machines and electric irons were on Thursday, January 7 distributed by Borikansunwon at the Local Government Secretariat Complex, Meseole, Okeho in celebration of his one year in office.
While making his speech, the council Boss, revealed that the presentation of empowerment materials to the constituents was heartily done in order to empower the beneficiaries and equally improve their lots.
Borikansunwon said, “on assumption of office, precisely one year ago, we promised that our administration would embark on developmental, people-oriented and welfare programmes for the betterment of the masses. Since then, we have kept faith with our promises as we have explored all our resources in order to uplift our people socially and economically”.
He added that, “with our dogged determination to bequeath a worthy legacy to our people, we were able to touch the lives of our people substantially in the past one year in the areas of road construction and rehabilitation, provision of infrastructural facilities, education, health delivery, agriculture, water supply, community development and rural integration, as well as staff welfare for optimal performance, among others”.
He furthered, “apart from the foregoing, series of financial and material supports were given to the needy and the vulnerable, while other areas of development were not left to suffer. In fact, we have recorded landmark achievements in our efforts to bring the much talked about dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the good people of this council area, in line with the four(4) cardinal programmes of the ruling People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in Oyo State, which are: free and qualitative education, free heathcare, security of lives and properties, as well as sustainable economy ”.
He praised Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration in the pacesetter state for showing great understanding and firm support for the local government, that is thereby creating an enabling environment for his administration to record the notable achievements.
Borikansunwon enjoined the beneficiaries of the empowerment materials to make the best use of the materials in order to complement the kind gesture of his current administration.
He also implored those who might have been looking forward to benefit from this laudable programme but are yet to be considered to exercise patience because the programme remains a continuum.
In another vein, Borikansunwon lavished encomiums on Head of Local Government Administration, Mr Gbenga Adediji for maximum support, concerted efforts and pieces of notable advice which are no doubt gearing towards an attainment of landmark achievements.
He equally appreciated the Caretaker Secretary(Hon.Moses Gbenga Ogundokun), entire members of Caretaker Committee, all Heads of Departments and Units, Executive members of PDP, party leaders and host of others respectively.
He also praised Comrade Richard Adekunle, Head of Information Unit, for his professional competence, dexterity and oratory prowess to handle the programme and ensured it was a laudable and hitch free activities.
The epoch making occasion was attended by the Caretaker Chairman, Secretary, members, HLA, Head of Departments and Units, Traditional Rulers, PDP party leaders, PDP party executives and others respectively.
