IGBA-OTUN FOOTBALL COMPETITION: United Humble Balogun By 1-0

United Football Club, Okeho, Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State has defeated Balogun Football Club of Iseyin by 1-0 in a football match competition organized and sponsored by the Chairmanship Hopeful, Kajola LG, Hon Robert Adeniji.

The football match competition which took place at Okeho-Iganna Grammar School’s Football pitch, Okeho on Monday, January 4 featured both football teams as Salam Soliu facilitated the United’s lone goal in the second half of the competition shortly after Famoriyo Gbenga of Balogun FC got yellow card for wrongly attacking opponent.

The match which began at 5:00pm had its first half ended goaless as United FC dominated by 65 percent but could not make use of domineering influence throughout of first 45 minutes’ official regulated time.

Sanni Yunus who referred the football match displayed an high level of competence, professionalism and dynamism that devoid of nepotism and favouritism for any team.

The two lines’ men, Kehinde Gabriel Sesan and Salau Mujeeb Bolaji were not stagnant on a spot but were moving moderately and cautiously in line with football to ascertain fairplay, normalcy and players’ adherence to football rules.

Khalid Imran, Editor-in-Chief, naijatodaynews.com in an interaction with Rafiu Kabeer, United FC Coach, said he was happy that his club triumphed over Balogun FC with lone goal despite missing many scoring chances.

In his own submission, Sulaiman Bolaji, Balogun FC Coach said the game had come and gone and they have learnt another lesson regarding the match, adding that though the match had not ended officially, sequel to collapse of one of his players some minutes to the end of the game.

While speaking on reasons that orchestrated the football competition, the Chairmanship Hopeful for Kajola Local Government, Hon Robert Adeniji revealed that the purpose of organizing the football match was premised on how to sustain unity, love and togetherness between the two local governments and reciprocation of same gesture to the spectators who are divergent in views, religions, backgrounds and other demographic status respectively.

Not only that but also stated that the football match competition was a privilege for the players to display their extra energy, talents, skills and understanding of football game among others.

Adeniji said that the match would not be the last one as other sporting activities were coming up subsequently when all lovers of sports would be given an opportunity to display their talents and skills in their sports of choice and interest.

The Chairmanship Hopeful cheered United FC and Balogun FC players for showing fairplay, decency and professional maturity, appreciating the former for honourably humbling the later with lone goal.

He equally appreciated the local executive members of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and others who waited patiently from the beginning of the match to the end.

He enjoined all to watch out for Igba-Otun(New Dawn) in the next political dispensation of Kajola Local Government.
