The Legislative Aspirant for Ibadan Northwest State Constituency, Oyo State, Hon. Sheriff Segun Adesina has felicitated the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde on attainment of 53 years of age.

Adesina extends greetings to Makinde on his unique occasion of birthdate in a release he personally signed and made available to Naijatodaynews.com.

According to him,”Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, Governor of Oyo State means different things to different people. To his immediate family for instance, His Excellency is without doubt a loving husband and caring father. If in doubt ask the First Lady of Oyo State”.

“To his political adversaries however, the Governor is bad news. Makinde’s brilliant and exceptional performance since assuming office less than two years ago has not only confounded his critics, it has left the opposition APC in a state of perpetual self-doubt”.

“Even within the ruling PDP, Engr. Seyi Makinde is not without his fair share of critics. Ask those who still think that politics is about capturing and sharing of the common purse among a privileged few and they will tell you that the Governor has long betrayed their trust”.

“As the only PDP Governor in the entire Southwest, Makinde is by standard convention Leader of the Party in the Zone. His insistence on justice and fairness in the conduct of Party affairs in the Zone has left a few reactionary politicians who prefer the ‘bólè-ķájà’ approach terribly belly-aching”.

“Truth is that In the murky and crocodile infested waters of Nigerian politics, the likes of Engr. Seyi Makinde is rare to find. A man whose word is bond, the Governor’s insistence on putting the interest and welfare of the people at the front burner of public service has greatly endeared him to many at the grassroots”.

“Ask the ordinary man on the street of Ibadan, Oyo, Ogbomoso or Iseyin and he will tell you that Makinde is the best thing to ever happen to Oyo State in a long, long while. Alongside the equally impressive Babagana Zulum of Borno State, many have even described him as the best Governor on current rating in Nigeria”.

“With the regular payment of workers salary on the 25th day of every month, I doubt if there is a State in Nigeria at present where civil servants are any happier. Even senior citizens who were the butt of cruel jokes by a former governor of Oyo State are now enjoying a new lease of life courtesy of the Seyi Makinde administration”.

“The first and arguably only State to replicate the EFCC Act in Nigeria, Governor Seyi Makinde has raised the bar of purposeful, transparent and accountable governance in Oyo State with the establishment of the Oyo State EFCC. In spite of his generous and kind nature, the Governor has demonstrated quantum evidence of zero tolerance for corruption”.

“With his free education policy, enrolment into public schools in Oyo State has shot up dramatically in less than two years. The payment of grants to schools was introduced and the payment of N3, 000 development levy by students abolished. More teachers have been recruited and more classrooms constructed to boost the quality of education in the State”.

“His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde is equally one of the most gender friendly Chief Executive of a State in Nigeria. It is great tribute to his sense of fairness that for the first time in the history of the Pacesetter State, both the office of the SSG and HoS are occupied by women”.

“Time and space will not permit me the luxury of revisiting all the good works of the Seyi Makinde administration most of which are already in the public domain anyway. The fact that His Excellency shares the same birthday with our Lord Jesus Christ makes everything about him even more special”.

“As I join his family, friends, political and business associates, the government and people of Oyo State in wishing His Excellency very many happy returns of today, I pray that the Almighty God will continue to guide and protect you in your divine mission to take Oyo State to enviable heights”, Adesina concluded.
