With a view to increasing food production and creating employment opportunities for youths in order to enhance and maintain their better standard of living, Former Majority Leader of the House of Representatives , Rt. Hon. Mulikat Akande-Adeola has
has facilitated a three – day training and empowerment programme for
200 people across Ogbomoso and Oke – Ogun areas of Oyo State.
The 200 participants who were drawn from Ogbomoso and Okeogun areas of the state would be trained on rearing of goats and sheep and equally have access to receipt of #100,000 each, to invest in the farming business after the completion of training programme.
The three – day training and empowerment programme is said to be in three batches, with the first batch programme already commenced on Wednesday, December 9th, at Jokodolu foundation, Aroje , Ogbomoso, to end on Friday, December 11th.
The first batch contained 50 participants while second batch will be 100 participants, which has been scheduled to hold next week Wednesday, Thursday and Friday(December 16th, 17th and 18th) while the week after is scheduled for the third batch with the remaining 50 participants to partake at the same venue in Ogbomoso.
It was gathered that the participants, after the end of the training will be assisted to
develop more interest in the rearing and production of sheep and goats.
Adding that they will acquire knowledge and skills on construction of house for sheep and goats’ rearing, management and production.
Similarly, the participants will be able to build competence in raising healthy sheep and goats among other benefits.
