Nig Army, GOC 2Div Decorates Newly Promoted Senior Officers

Sequel to diligence, discipline, dedication and avoidance of negligence by the concerned officers, Nigeria Army has promoted 5 Brigadier Generals, 2 Colonels, 2 and Lieutenant Colonels respectively.

The epoch making event of official promotion of the concerned officers has on Wednesday, December 2 taken place at 2Div Nigeria Army, Adekunle Fajuyi, Odogbo, Ibadan. Oyo State.

Names of Newly Promoted Army Officers are:

Colonel Uchechukwu Godwin Simon, promoted to Brigadier General

Colonel Earnest Agbaegbuna Orakwe, promoted to Brigadier General

Colonel E B Barkins, promoted to Brigadier General

Colonel Oluwafemi Daniel Williams, promoted to Brigadier General

Colonel Emmanuel Echebiwe, promoted to Brigadier General

Lieutenant Colonel Jeremiah Atoh Ikagba, promoted to Colonel

Lieutenant Colonel Osah Igbeneweka, promoted to Colonel

Major Olugbenga Olumuyiwa Bamigboye, promoted to Lieutenant Colonel

Major Daniel Oseyomon Echicheoya, promoted to Lieutenant Colonel

In his speech, the General Officer Command, Major General AB Omozoje said that the newly ranked officers were promoted based on their professional patriotism, diligence, discipline, dedication and avoidance of negligence to their official assignment, adding that the addition of more feathers to their caps signifies the arrival and receipts of more notable and professional tasks.

Omozoje said that they needed to use their knowledge, skills and intuition to promote the dignity, prestige and integrity of Nigeria Army, adding that their elevation should equally profer permanent solutions to the problems and challenges of insecurity across the length and breadth of the country.

He said that their elevation and attainment of new offices were not in connection with securing of new wives but promotion that is called for doing what ought not have been doing, elevation that is targeted at problems’ solving and thinking outside the brain box to do the needful at an appropriate time.

Omozoje stressed that if they could perform beyond the target, there is no doubt that they would be celebrating another promotion circle in the next five years.

The State’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Nwachukwu Enwonwu charged the newly promoted officers to be more professional, dedicated and focused,saying to whom much is given much is equally expected.

Enwonwu enjoined them to be role models to others and good ambassadors to Nigeria Army, stressing that their exhibition of good attitude and adherence to core professionalism would no doubt continue to elevate them the more.

Okere of Saki, Oba Khalid described Nigeria Army as the knowledge based Law Enforcement Agency , saying the soldiers’ display of knowledge and skills had made people changed the erroneous thought that they are not educated.

The monarch charged them to be more proactive and be firmly ready to think of how the challenges bedeviling the country would be solved.

He praised the efforts being made by the soldiers at the 244 Rekki Battalion towards the conflict resolution between the farmers and fulanis in Saki and its environs.

General Olufemi Williams who spoke on behalf of other promoted officers thanked God and the Chief of Army Staff for promoting him and other to the next ranks.

He said that the new rank was no doubt an addition of new tasks to him and others, stressing that they would do the needful to live to expectation, commit more to primary assignment and ensure they are not failed on the new tasks.

Colonel AY Ewekoma congratulated them and enjoined them to use the privilege for hard working, building of more good images and firm commitment to combating of both internal and external aggressors.
