A group, Liberation Movement (LM), headed by Bolanle Arikawe has described the former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose as someone with no value and character whose intention allegedly geared towards recruiting members, he desires to take to the ruling APC because of the presidential ambition of his benefactor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement issued by the leader of the group, Bolanle Arikawe, he posited that Fayose is a man with no value and character to be emulated, that everything to him has always been about himself alone. The former governor in company of some unknown elements held a meeting in Lagos tagged PDP reconciliation meeting, a day after the authentic leaders converged in Ibadan.
Bolanle stated that Fayose should not be given any attention, because he will never stop doing what will make him grab news headlines with his thuggish behavior.
Fayose in defiance to the effort by the leaders of PDP in South West, to bring back peaceful co-existence to the region, is visibly working with some saboteurs, to bring the party to its kneels and then recruit those with weak character, he intends to take to the APC.
Governor Seyi Makinde, despite the attempt by Fayose to drag him in the mud, which he is a Major player, has refused to join issues with him, and have been playing cool, despite Fayose’s open provocation and confrontation.
Fayose is known for his bragadocious and over political ambitious move, which in most cases does not represent the popular opinion and wish of all PDP members in South West.
The authentic leaders from the region held an all inclusive meeting on Thursday in Ibadan, where positions were zoned to all the six States in the region, in the spirit of equity and fairness.
The meeting was chaired by the leader of the region, which is governor Seyi Makinde, where he called for peaceful coexistence amongst all members.
Makinde, also in his speech extended olive branch to those perceived to be warring factions to embrace peace and return to the fold, so that the region can return to a winning ways, but Fayose left Ekiti to chair a meeting with those he is allegedly taking to APC.
The Lagos PDP Chairman, Deji Doherty, who was the convener of Fayose’s led meeting, was reported to be bragging to some PDP members of his link with the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, that he now has unflinching access to him. Attempts were made to caution him that such things should not be said in the public, but it seems, his mind have been made to join Fayose and other disloyal members, to cross carpet to APC, for Fayose to show his capacity as a leader, who can make things happen in South West.
In the Lagos meeting were former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, who is reportedly spearheading the cross carpetting to join Tinubu in APC, a failed governorship candidate in Ogun State, Hon Ladi Adebutu was also part of the meeting, the immediate past National Vice Chairman of PDP, Southwest West, Dr Eddy Olafeso, who was roundly defeated at PDP primaries, during the just concluded Ondo governorship elected, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, Akogun Lere Oyewumi, Ondo State former Chairman, Ebenezer Alabi, Saka Lawal, Otunba Femmy Carenna, Chief Kolapo Ogunjobi, immediate past Zonal Secretary, Rev Bunmi Jenyo, immediate past Zonal Publicity Secretary, Ayo Fadaka and other light weight politicians joined the meeting.
Fayose according to an impeccable source was reported to have been mobilized with an initial fee of N500m by the Tinubu, with a promised of additional funding if he is able to weaken the PDP structure across the South West States, by bringing members of PDP to his camp.
Since the former governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, who was Tinubu’s main man, has his loyalty shifted, Tinubu needs a new face who can help him pull the string, but Fayose is not sharing the money he is paid as joining fee, as it should be, but just using words of mouth, crumbs, and promises to hold them to job.
The leader of PDP at National level, Prince Uche Secondus was said to easily bought the lies from ex-governor Fayose, that some forces in South West are working against his second term as the Chairman, which is making him to remain indifferent in the ongoing man made crisis in South West PDP.
Initially, Fayose was bragging that he has South West PDP in his pocket, with four state Chairmen in Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti and Osun, but the Osun’s former chairman Soji Adagundo has been reinstated by the court, Fayose only has hold on Ekiti and Lagos, but the Lagos PDP Chairman is undoing himself, as party members has vowed to disgrace him out of the office.
Lagos PDP members has however accused their chairman, Mr. Deji Doherty of shameful incompetence, that since he was made the State Chairman, there is no single achievement he can point to, than making himself available for the destruction of the party, calling him the worst, political naive Chairman in the history of Lagos State.
In fact, according to a privileged information, about 17 local government chairmen out of 20 in Lagos, have turned their back at him, because of his level of anyhowness and incompetence.
Fayose has been a known rabble rouser, who could not even win a single state Assembly, not even the candidate from his own local government in the last election.
The question to those using him where is the political clout he is parading, to those he has promised a massive defection from PDP. At best, he is only moving with spend forces, who no longer hold any relevance in their domain.
Another source noted that, leaders and majority of member in the region are strongly behind Governor Seyi Makinde, who is working round the clock, to ensure that PDP members in the region are united, so that their effort in the future elections will yield positive results and bring more victories to them.
