The Ongoing rehabilitation of Iseyin-Okeho road in Oke-Ogun axis of Oyo State has claimed known and unknown lives, while countless numbers of people plying the road have suffered various degrees of injuries.
Its rehabilitation commenced early this year after the federal government had awarded it and earmarked notable amount of money for its take off.
Hamfan Construction Company is the construction company handling its rehabilitation and had since time of approval begun the work.
Since work had begun on the road, it was reliably gathered some notable lives had lost on the road while many people had sustained various degrees of injuries.
Khalid Imran, Editor, naijatodaynews.com in his investigation had gone extra mile to find out while precious lives are perishing on the road and while many of its users have sustained various injuries and eventually resorted to stationary positions.
It was reliably gathered that when Hamfan Construction Company started the rehabilitation of the road, it created no parking site for all the equipment and machineries to work on the road, it had to park the caterpillars and others along the road while the work was in progress and after the completion of daily exercise.
He also found out that Hamfan Construction Company was handling the work in a poor manner that is prone to occurrence of incessant accidents, it was revealed that in Okeho road where channelization of retain walls is in progress, the construction company had to firstly channel the gutter for certain number of weeks before erection of the walls.
It was also alleged that the construction company gives no sign of ‘ work in progress’ so as to caution those on a high speed that work is in progress ahead, in respect of this development, some lives were lost while many sustained injuries.
In the same vein, some road users were also alleged of carelessness and over speeding, having discovered that the road which had been in a deplorable condition for so many years is almost motorable.
While going further to know the people who have lost their lives and sustained various degrees of injuries on the road, it was reliably revealed that a brand new black venza jeep that conveyed about five people including driver was involved in a fatal accident via collision with a stationary caterpillar, the driver was said to have kicked the bucket immediately and others sustained injuries that required immediate admission into the hospitals.
Also, a white maxima car in its attempt to avoid entering into a hole dug for erosion to have its way, its driver eventually collided with the tree in a nearby bush, the driver whose name is not ascertained was rescued by the good Samaritans at a spot very close to muslim testing ground.
Sienna loaded with rice had also fallen victim of accident at a spot next to Vigilante base which is acknowledged closer to muslim testing ground along the road, findings revealed that the driver died and the car spoilt beyond repair.
Countless numbers of commercial motorcyclists, passengers and others have lost their lives while many have equally sustained permanent injuries.
The source added that the channelization of retain walls along the road in Okeho had equally caused many accidents which have killed some victims while others have sustained injuries.
It was revealed that a staff of local government official was involved in an accident and lost his spinal cord, another man name withheld also involved involved in the scenario had his spinal cord lost.
The source revealed that the comprehensive details of the road’s victims could not be ascertained but could only expatiate some that caught his knowledge.
The source appealed to the government and Hamfan Construction Company to do the needful towards the total completion of the road so as to save more souls as Christmas and new year seasons draw nearer.
