JUST IN: Court Fixes Nov.18 To Hear Akewugbagold’S Twins Kidnappers Bail Application

An Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, on Monday fixed Nov.18 for the hearing of the bail application filed by the six suspects linked with the kidnapped of Alhaji Taofeek Akewugbagold’s twins.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the suspects are Muhammed Bashir,33, Oyeleye Opeyemi,25,Olamide Ajala,36, Taiwo Ridwan,30,Rafiu Mutiu 36 and Fatai Akanji.

The suspects are facing three-count charge of conspiracy, kidnapping and unlawful possession of firearms.
NAN reports that the suspects were initially arraigned at the Iyaganku Magistrate Court on Sept.7 and remanded at the Correctional Centre before transferring the case to the High Court in Ibadan for fresh arraignment.

Ar the resume hearing of the case on Monday, the state prosecuting counsel, Miss Magrete Ojo, said the case was slated for arraignment of the suspects but the arraignment could not go on because the suspects were not brought from the Correctional Centre.

The suspects who were represented by different counsel, informed the court through their counsel that they have filed a bail applications in respect of their clients.

The defence counsel, Uwawah Oritshuwa, Taiwo Hassan, O Erinoso, told the court that their bail applications were filed on Oct.14 and Nov.9.

They urged the court to allow them moved the bail application.

The state prosecuting counsel,Ojo, prayed the court for an adjournment to enable her respond to the bail application filed by the defendants counsel.

Justice Mashud Abass adjourned the case till Nov, 18 for the arraignment and definite hearing of the bail application.

It would be recalled that the suspects allegedly kidnapped the two year-old twins of the cleric on April 25 at about 7:45pm at Alphonso Road, Sasa area of Ibadan..

NAN reports that the kidnapped suspects had collected N4 million ransom from the father of the twins before eventually release the victims.
