EXCLUSIVE: Iseyin Residents Scold Government Over Failure To Fix Damaged Road

The residents of Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State have scolded the public office holders in the community, Oyo State and Nigeria at large over their failure and negligence to fix the damaged Iseyin-Okeho road.

The point of damaged Iseyin-Okeho that is acknowledged closer to Ilabe Cherubim and Seraphim in Iseyin was said to have been damaged and torn by stream and erosion that flow around the place.

The deplorable point was acknowledged to almost break into two and which can adversely prevent motorists, motorcyclists and other users from plying the road.

Naijatodaynews.com in an interaction with a resident, Joshua Michael who revealed that the point of damaged Iseyin-Okeho road would have triggered loss of lives on Monday.

He said that a stranger who had never plied the road was coming from Okeho axis on night of Monday with no knowledge of how deteriorated the point is, adding that it was the passersby who were shouting the road ahead was very bad before exercising caution.

He added that the unforseen circumstance of assumed fatal accident was averted sequel to presence of the passersby who hinted the driver and passengers about the poor condition of road.

Michael called on public office holders and most importantly the caretakers chairmen in the community, the lawmaker representing the state constituency at Oyo House of Assembly, Hon. Dele Adeola to the needful in fixing the point and road completely.

In the same vein, another resident, Jamiu Yusuf called attention of the contractor handling the road to expedite the necessary actions towards the quick completion of the road’s rehabilitation.

Yusuff said that the road had started before the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic and they are worried and disheartened that its rehabilitation has been taking time more than necessary.

He appealed to government at all levels to come to the aid of people living in the community and also the other users whose majority are not indigenes of Iseyin Local Government.
