I’m Focused On Delivery Of 2019 Mandate Not 2023 Election — Senator Kola Balogun

Senator Kola Balogun, lawmaker representing Oyo South Senatorial District at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly has revealed that his focus is premised on delivery of 2019 mandate given by people of the district but not eagerness on the preparation for the subsequent general elections.

Balogun who emerged under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP defeated his arc rival of the All Progressive Congress, late Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi at the poll and election petition tribunal.

While fielding questions with the journalists at a media parley in Ibadan, the state capital of Oyo State on Thursday, Balogun disclosed that , he would prefer to have total concentration on how to effectively and efficiently deliver on 2019 mandate for the senatorial constituents to focus on 2023 election that is still far.

He said, ” I am not bothered nor worried about 2023, only my creator knows who will live up to 2023, but I am deeply worried about the 2019 mandate, if it pleases God , let him give me 2023, all am concerned about now is to have a remarkable impact on my constituents.

The lawmaker said ” I have been able to facilitate N50billion revolving single digit credit loan to trade groups and many other things to better the lots of people in my constituency”.

In his furtherance, the federal parliamentarian said that he had loudest voice over the consideration of Ibadan airport to international standard.

On Seyi Makinde’s N100bn loan, the former Commissioner for Trade Commerce and Investment reacted to the critics, saying rather than condemning the act, they ought to have asked for transparency in the disbursement of the loan and monitor execution of projects the loan would be used for.

The Lawmaker said,” Governor Seyi Makinde had good programmes of development for the state, he is contended and we need someone like him to govern the state, we were in this state before when a governor said there was no money to pay salaries, pensioners and no improvement on education, but here is a governor who is paying Salaries regularly, building infrastructure and spend more on education so where is he manufacturing the money from, Seyi Makinde will not steal Govt money but rather use it to make life better for the people of Oyo state”.

He added,“Our major critics of APC are playing politics with life of people in Oyo state, they have not changed their style of politics of deception and biased criticism, Governor of many APC states are taking loans but they see Seyi Makinde’s decision to take loan as a sin”.

Kola Balogun enjoined all and sundry in the state and beyond to throw their weight behind Engr Seyi Makinde whom he described as God sent person to lift people of the pacesetter state from poverty and general sufferings in the land.

The federal lawameker however urged the pen pushers to orientate, sensitize and educate Nigerians on what they ought to have known on electoral process of the country.
