IREPODUN Market Has Come To Stay – ELERO Of ILERO

The Elero of Ilero in Iwa Local Council Development Area of Oyo state Oba Wasiu Oyedele Saka Ige Onisa, Olokolonigi 11, Ilufemiloye 1 has described the attendant breakthrough occasioned by the re opening of Irepodun weekly market as the result of cooperation, commitment and unity of purpose of Ilero indigenes at home and abroad.


Oba Oyedele Saka made this known in an exclusive interview at his palace in Ilero.
He thanked God Almighty for the progress so far recorded during his reign and appreciated notable indigenes, groups and associations, traditional chiefs and title holders, as well as well wishers for the rare pace of development, particularly on the lifting up of Irepodun market which holds every Tuesday to higher standards.


According to the foremost traditional ruler, Ilero town under his headship had sacrificed everything within reach, which include: special prayers, advertisements on radio stations across Oyo and neighbouring states, boosting of security around the market, holding of several meetings with farmers in the town and beyond, ensuring price control in the market, Co opting of the Hausa community and procurement of buses for ease of transportation by a prominent indigene – Alhaja Fatima Olowo, among other gestures.


He added that he had liased with the government and other appropriate bodies on the need for the provision of infrastructures and social amenities to further sustain the operation of the market.
While noting that the laudable steps were being taken to create an enabling environment, Oba Oyedele Saka enjoined all and sundry to keep patronising the weekly market which he said had come to stay.
