Following the defection of Oyo State 2019 Gubernatorial Candidate of African Democratic Congress(ADC), Senator Olufemi Lanlehin to All Progressives Congress(APC), the party stakeholders have described the political scion and loyalists as refugees who consistently seeking asylum in a peaceful state”.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the party chairman, Adeoti Aderoju, after the stakeholders’ meeting held on Wednesday, September 16 in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

According to the statement,”the erstwhile group led by Senator Lanlehin has ever been on the path of disunity since time they joined our party- their greed, nepotism and divisive tendencies are on high side for anyone to bear, as result of which the decent process of producing a governorship candidate for party in the last general election was aborted simply to satisfy and pacify the desperation of Senator Lanlehin and his group”.

” This group under reference was the reason for a crack in the folds of not only ADC but also in other political parties they have ever joined since 2011 till date (from ACN to Accord; from Accord to PDP; from PDP to ADC and now from ADC to APC). They are like refugees who consistently seeking asylum in a peaceful state but without requisite value for tolerance and peace. What is really pushing them around? We leave that to the unbiased public to judge!”.

“The public has been inundated with their long-planned defection into APC as if they have decent and credible clout and numbers, far from it. For record purposes Senator Lanlehin defected group can only boast of FOUR indecisive members of the dissolved State EXCO- and that is 4 out of 26 members! Not a single member of the current State EXCO nor any of the current Local Government EXCO members embarked on the voyage of discovery with them. It may interest the public to know that ADC as it is presently constituted in Oyo still has many of our 2019 state and the national candidates intact”.

“You may recall that Senator Femi Lanlehin opted to pull out of the party’s preferred Coalition arrangement in the first place for reasons personal to him and not for altruism purposes. As you all know he was the face of ADC in the Coalition arrangement, but due to his refusal and negative attitude towards reporting the progress about the Coalition to the party, the party demanded to know the contents of the discussions of Coalition”.

” Upon that request the next we heard was the announcement of his resignation from the Coalition, citing and hiding behind alleged insincerity of the government to the Coalition agreement.Do we need to say much on this? NO!”.

“We have gone through thick and thin and we have come out stronger- our platform is open to any decent and sincere politician to accept our handshake to build a virile society”.

“ADC through our handshake is working to change the face of politics, we partner to voice our support for giving the people of Oyo a new song in the delivery of good governance; hence, we welcome the opportunity to give our commitment to the Coalition government led by His Excellency Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, in-keeping our party’s commitment to good governance, honest, open, and practical politics. We are happy to be working with the Coalition government as an integral part for the good of our people”.

“Oyo state ADC is delighted to announce to the general public and our teeming members and supporters that coalition or no coalition we remain an indivisible and strong political party”, the statement stated
