The notable members in Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have revealed that their absenteeism from Saturday’s first reconciliation meeting called by the Chairman of the Committee, former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala was premised on the fact that the attendees were populated by members of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
It was reliably gathered that the stakeholders who converged at Alao-Alaka’s residence in Ibadan, the state capital of Oyo State on Saturday, August 29 had without mincing words bore their minds on the grievances and gave possible recommendations for the party to be united.
They itemised the causes of grievances and division within the party as unfair congresses and primaries, poor reward system and inability to stick to fairness, equity and justice that the progressive party is known for.
While charging the reconciliation committee to look into these grievances and do the needful, they, however, expressed dedication to downplaying their misgivings and personal ambitions that would no doubt culminate into unity, oneness and togetherness in Oyo State’s All Progressives Congress.
The speakers who aired their views on notable issues begged one another and enjoined the concerned quarters to collapse the various sub or splinter groups into one Oyo APC, stressing that the reconciliation must be all inclusive not downgrading any member of the party.
The notable bigwigs and loyalists of the party like Iyiola Oladokun, Sunday Dare, Moses-Alake-Adeyemo, Adebayo Shittu, Adeolu Akande, Yunus Akintunde, Fatai Ibikunle, Bayo Adewusi, Adesoji Akanbi, Ayo Adeseun, Adedapo Lam-Adesina, Abiodun Olasupo, Taiwo Michael Akintola, Sunbo Olugbemi, Sunday Adepoju, Akeem Agbaje, Ayodeji Kareem, Isiaka Alimi, Ajiboye Omodewu, Goke Oyetunji and host of others did not make themselves available at the meeting.
Alao-Akala, the Chairman reconciliation committee explained the absenteeism of the top members of the party, promised to persuade more members to attend the subsequent stakeholders’ meetings.
He revealed that the subsequent meetings will be more elaborate to accommodate many of former political office holders as well as two representatives each from all local government areas in the state.
It would be recalled that before Saturday’s meeting, Youth and Sports Development Minister, Sunday Dare, had convened a meeting inside the premises of the University of Ibadan on Friday but late former governor Abiola Ajimobi’s deputy, Alake-Adeyemo and Adeseun, who were at Friday night’s meeting were conspicuously absent from Alao-Akala’s meeting on reasons that have not been ascertained.
Those who attended Dare’s meeting included members of the House of Representatives, Honourables Shina Peller, Musiliu Akinremi, Akeem Adeyemi, Olumide Ojerinde, Chief Niyi Akintola (SAN), former speakers of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Asimiyu Alarape, Olagunju Ojo, Ayodeji Aleshinloye, ALGON chairman, Dibu Ojerinde who also attended Alao-Akala’s meeting.
Also at Alao-Akala’s meeting were Bayo Adelabu, Joseph Tegbe, Olusola Ayandele, Azeez Adeduntan, Niyi Akintola and Owolabi Babalola, Fatai Buhari, Teslim Folarin among others.
The pieces of information at naijatodaynews.com revealed that the aggrieved ones were not pleased with composition of the reconciliation committee, claiming it is dominated by former members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
It was said the composition is unfair from the day one as some of those who got APC in its monumental loss at the last general elections and current imbroglio in the party are in the committee.
Saying oneness and unity could not be achieved to dislodge the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP as all are conspiracy to allow Governor Seyi Makinde to use two terms in order to deny people of the state the governance of progressives.
Investigation had it that the aggrieved ones promised to remain members of the party and would do everything possible to resist plans of some people who have been positioned to takeover the party from the true progressives.
