The Chief Medical Director, University College Hospital(UCH), Prof. Jesse Otegbayo handed over an anti-crime patrol vehicle to the Yemetu Police Division for use at the Police Post at the Intern Hostel of the hospital.
This step according to him is in fulifment of his commitment to making UCH and its environs crime free.
The vehicle was received by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Yemetu Division, CSP Abubakir Auna on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State command, Mr. Nwachukwu Enwonwu.
CSP Abubakir commended the UCH management for taking practical steps to curbing crime.
He said “Your action today will not go unnoticed because this gesture will go a long way in enhancing the operational response of our men to crime and other related issues, I therefore must state that we will continue to do our best in protecting lives and properties within the Hospital and its environs”.
He further advised the Hospital management to install Close Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras to aid in detecting criminal activities.
Prof. Otegbayo while speaking, lauded the Commissioner of Police Mr. Nwachukwu Enwonwu, for keeping to his promises of deploying police officers to the just commissioned police posts in the Hospital.
He noted that the officers have been briefed on the security lapses in the hospital, hence, the need to provide a patrol vehicle that would enhance smoother operations.
Similarly,the Chief Security officer of UCH, Mr Saheed Garba, assured that the hospital’s security unit would work with the police.
He therefore called on staff and students of the hospital to remain vigilant at all times adding that security is everyone’s business.
