Martin Desmond was not only right in his tenets for good judgement but also was precise to have stated that “patience is a virtue beyond definition of words and those who really can make use of it will never be guided by mere assumptions but rather, while others are committing errors based on mere speculations, a such will not be deterred to go through all the appropriate quarters to ensure that he does necessary findings and come up with an established fact that cannot be denied
The above stated quote removes Oyo state government from the web of misconceptions and fallacies over the controversial monetary support to (UCH), Ibadan which had generated a lot of reactions lately.
You will recall that series of press statements emanated as a result of this from the institution in question as well as some politicians believed to be from the opposition denying that the said support was ever received thereby querying the government’s integrity; demanding for a clearer ground for more explanations over the Covid-19 support which was in sum of above N100m.
But in her letter written to the Oyo state Commissioner for Health dated June 25th which was signed by Professor David Olaleye, the Virology Department, University of Ibadan, acknowledged the reception of these monies and also thanked the government in particular the Oyo State governor for the helping hands extended to them.
By this, it is now clear that Oyo state government was right in her Covid-19 accounts while I hope that in the future, UCH will do the needful by first finding out from any of her department concerned whenever a situation like this arises before issuing a press release in denial of what was received. This will go a long way in avoiding altercations and as well not put the government’s image in doubt; for where there is a lawn to cross attempt to jump might not be the best idea.
