365 DAYS AS A LAWMAKER: Hon. Oluyemi Adewale Taiwo Unfolds Scorecards

The Lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Oluyemi Adewale Taiwo has unfolded his scorecards as a lawmaker in the last one year of assumption and inauguration.
Taiwo revealed the achievements in a piece of writing tagged ” My Stewardship in the Last One Year” and made available to naijatodaynews.com on Wednesday, June 10th.

In his words, “To the Glory of Almighty God who is the Alpha and Omega of every man’s life, I, Hon. Oluyemi Adewale Taiwo representing the good people of Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency of Oyo State in the House of Representatives in Abuja, give thanks to God Almighty and my constituents for their support, patience and the trust they have in me to represent them in Abuja and I promised and I’m still promising I won’t let them down”.

“The last one year had been a series of tough and good times, part of which included the time, resources and energy spent in securing my electoral victory at the High Court and the Court of Appeal since June 11 that I was Sworn In in Abuja and it lasted till November 5th , 2019.
I began to have full focus on the duty I was elected to undertake, immediately after the last Appeal Court judgement of November 15th, 2019″.

MONITORING OF PROJECTS

Immediately after the swearing-in 2019, I embarked on monitoring tours of the abandoned/ongoing projects. Parts of which was the ongoing Powerline Sub-station at Lagaye junction, Lanlate where I met with the project supervisor from Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
During the monitoring tour I discovered that release of fund had been the major challenge encounter for delay of the completion of the project. According to the supervisor from TCN and physical assessment the project has reached 80% completion. I assessed the project stage and then gave my word of assistance where necessary and also promise to give full support to making sure for the speedy completion of the project before the tenure ends.
The project when completed will supply electricity to Ibarapa axis and its environs, will attract investors which will boost the economy activities of the area.

Efforts are also in top gear in making sure all projects meant for my constituency in 2020 budget are perfectly implemented for the benefits of my constituents.

PROJECTS COMPLETED SO FAR
A motorized borehole with modern water filter at Awotan Araromi Community High School, Ward 4 of Apete, Ido Local GoGovernment.

A motorized borehole with modern water filter at opposite at Itabo, Lanlate ward 10 of Ibarapa East.
A block of 3-class room fully furnished with modern furniture for pupils and Teachers at Ward 3 of Isaba Baptist Primary school, Eruwa of Ibarapa East.
A block of 3-class room fully furnished with modern furniture for pupils and Teachers at St. Michael Primary school, Aborerin, Ward 4 of Eruwa of Ibarapa East. (ongoing 2019 project)

PROJECTS ABOUT TO BE STARTED BEFORE COVID-19
A block of 3 class rooms, fully furnished with modern furniture for pupils and teachers at Bako, Ward 9 of Ido LG. All paper work completed for the commencement of the project before the issue of Covid-19 delayed the construction.

Also delayed is the Solar Light Power project meant to light up Apete at night, to curb crime at night, due to the high population of students in the area. The project will light up Apete from the bridge to D’Aces Hotel in Apete.

Efforts are also in top gear, to monitor to make sure other meaningful projects for my constituents in the 2020 budget are perfectly implemented for the benefits of constituents.
SPORT ACTIVITIES
Due to my love for sporting activities, I organized a friendly match between the football team of Ibarapa East LG and Ido LG in order to promote sporting activities in the area and also to discover future Football talents.
As the first President of Nigeria Mini Football Association, I facilitated the Hosting Right of The Second Edition of 2020 African Mini Football Nations Cup to Oyo State were 20 African Nations Mini Football National Teams will participate and the First Omi-Titun Inter Local Governments where 40 LGs/LCDAs Oyo State Teams will also participate. The tournament will in turn help showcasing Football talents and promote tourism in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

PERSONAL EFFORTS
JOBS: Several constituents were recommended for jobs both at government and private establishments.
My visitations to Educational institutions and other places under my federal constituency, I started my tour from the College of Education, Lanlate and hoping to continue my tour round others and many other places too after the Covid-19 issue.
Sponsored of two of my constituents for the 2019 Pilgrimage to the Holy Land
In my own little way of given back to my people, I have done series of charity works both physical cash in order to boost their small trades.
Covid-19 Preventive Materials and Food Palliatives were given to my constituents in order to cushion the negative effects of the ongoing covid-19 Pandemic.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, I facilitated 250 Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) slots of under Federal Government Poverty Alleviation Program, 250 beneficiaries of National Home Grown School Feeding (PNHGSF) program and 60 N-Power slots for my constituents. The lists have been submitted for further processing action.

LEGISLATIVE DUTIES
Sponsored Motion
A Motion was moved on the floor of the House on the ” need to caution Officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission from engaging motorists in Hot Chase on Highways,” where I cited some deadly examples of some incidents across Oyo state (Ogbomoso-Ilorin road on 8th February, 2020 and Moniya area incidents of Ibadan on 13th of April, 2019 both which led to loss of lives and properties.
Co-Sponsored Motion
A motion to curb the excess of the Fulani herdsmen in Ibarapa area of Oyo State by Hon. Ajibola Muraina.
Co-Sponsored Bill
South-West Economic Development Commission Bill, a bill that when passed into law will act as a catalyst to develop the commercial and industrial potentials of the South West region as well as receive and manage funds from allocation of the federation for development of the region particularly for agricultural and industrial development of the region.
Others bills and motions are in pipeline submitted to be listed on the House of Reps order paper for Legislative delebrations. Among other motions is the ” need to investigate the abandoned NITEL earth Satilite Station in Lanlate, Oyo State.” As a member of House of Reps Adhoc committee on abandoned Federal government project, I have taken step to making sure the said NITEL project is included in the first phase of the visitation for Legislative action.
OVERSIGHT FUNCTIONS
As a member of different committees in the green chamber of the National Assembly, I and my committee colleagues carried out the following oversight functions:
Land Transport Committee
As a member of land transport committee, I and my other colleagues from the committee went on a railway tour of the ongoing Lagos-Abeokuta Rail way project so as to ascertain the level of work done so far on the project.
Basic Education Committee
As a member of Basic Education committee, I and my other colleagues from the committee went on visitation to WAEC, NECO and NIT head offices in Abuja to have on the spot assessment information.
Sport Committee
As a member of Sport committee, I and my colleagues from the committee went on visitations to adequately have information on the present conditions of our stadia across the country.
Water Resources Committee
The committee met with all the agencies under water resources ministry to hear directly from them on the present state of our water resources across the country.
Poverty Alleviation Committee
The committee visited the Ministry of Humanitarian in Abuja to have interaction with the Minister and other top senior officials, the plans of the ministry to alleviate Nigerians from poverty and other related issues were discussed.
Ecowas Parliament Committee
The committee members in the National Assembly traveled to Niamey, Niger Republic for the inauguration of the fifth ECOWAS Parliament so as to ensure smooth coordination among the Member ECOWAS countries.
Member Ad-Hoc Committee On Abandoned Federal Government’s Properties
Members of the committee are saddled with the responsibilities of ascertaining the numbers of abandoned Federal Government Projects across the country in order to help in the plan for effective rescucitation.
