Makinde Assures Of Justice As NANS, NAPS Engage On Peaceful Protest Over Raping, Killings Of Members

The Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde has assured the families and people of the state to fish out the perpetrators that masterminded the raping and killing of two students and would equally bring them before the temple of justice.

Makinde was represented by Commissioner for Youths and Sports’ Development, Hon. Seun Fakorede at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan while the executive members of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) led others on a peaceful protest over the raping and killing of the two students.

Fakorede promised that the perpetrators who gang raped and killed the two students of College of Agriculture and Animal Production and University of Ibadan, Ibadan the capital of Oyo State would be fished out and brought to books.

Fakorede added that government in collaboration with Law Enforcement Agencies was doing everything possible to ensure that the marauders are apprehended and dealt with accordingly.

He appreciated the executive members of NANS, NAPS and students at large for maturity demonstrated to engage in a peaceful walked protest, adding that students’ unionism had changed from those days of destruction before getting things done and corrected.

While speaking on what triggered the peaceful walked protest, Global President, National Association of Nigerian President (NANS), Comrade Bamidele Akpan lamented that they were on a peaceful walked protest to seek for justice over the raping and killings of the two late students who were strong members of NANS.

Adding that they were in Ibadan to campaign against the state of insecurity that metamorphosed into raping and killings of innocent souls, stressing that they were standing firmly for justice and recommendation of capital punishment(dealt penalty) for whoever falls victim of raping either matured or teenager.

In his own contribution, Comrade Olalere Benedict Adetunji, Global President, National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) lamented that it was worrisome and disheartening that such barbaric incidents happened in Oyo State within some days to each other.

Adetunji said that the umbrella body of NAPS condemned in entirety, the raping and killings of innocent souls who were vibrant members of NANS, saying that they could not be watching and the marauders would be killing their students colleagues.

He said that they had reached out to men of police force in Oyo State to expedite actions in fishing out the perpetrators and agents of darkness who forcefully subjected the two victims to cold hands of death.

Comrade Kowe Odunayo Amos, the National President for South West said it was an effort made to reach out to the two powerful umbrella bodies of students in Nigeria that led to the protest, adding that an injustice to one was an injustice to all.

He called on Engr Seyi Makinde to as a matter of urgency fish out the perpetrators and marauders who short lived the precious souls of the two victims.

Amos said that they could not rest until the alleged wicked beings are apprehended and brought before the temple of justice.

He enjoined the Governor to beef up the security in the state, so that Oyo State will continue to maintain her pacesetter in all ramifications.
