UCH UPDATE: CMD Discloses Measures For Curtailment Of COVID-19 As Ogun State’s Transfered Case Is Being Attended To

The Chief Medical Director of University College Hospital(UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo has said that good nutrition, healthy life style and adhering to guidelines laid down by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) are the surest ways of preventing contracting and spreading of coronavirus (COVID 19). While case transferred-in from Ogun State is receiving adequate treatment at our infectious disease unit Holding Bay.

In a release signed by the Hospital’s Media Team and made available to Naija Today News on Tuesday, May 19th disclosed that Otegbayo said this while featuring on Fresh FM 105.9 programme.

According to the CMD, “eating good and balanced diet, maintaining a healthy life style, regular exercise and observing the guidelines laid down by WHO and NCDC are ways by which an individual can prevent contracting and spreading the dreaded coronavirus”.

“He said he did all of these while on isolation having tested positive for COVID 19, adding that, “by the time I observed all of this, I tested negative two consecutive times and that’s how I was able to defeat COVID 19”.

“Prof. Otegbayo noted that he had remained asymptomatic prior to his being tested positive, during the isolation and till now, but added that “COVID 19 is not a hoax as some people wont to believe. It is real and everybody must take it seriously”.

“However, the CMD believes that post COVID 19 will make everyone live a healthy life, while the health care delivery system will be better for it”.

“The CMD acknowledged the contribution of the Oyo State government, some kind-hearted individuals and organizations to UCH towards the fight against the COVID 19 pandemic”.

“He reiterated his commitment to the welfare of the staff of UCH and the comfort of the patients”.

“As at the close of business on Monday, 18th May, 2020, no new case of COVID-19 was reported in the hospital, while case transferred-in from Ogun State is receiving adequate treatment at our infectious disease Unit Holding Bay”.

“The University College Hospital, Ibadan will continue to render excellent care and services to all our patients. The Hospital equally enjoins everyone to adhere to the required infection prevention and control measures prescribed by the WHO and the NCDC, such as physical distancing, regular hand washing, use of hand sanitizers & face masks. We will continue to update the public accordingly”.
