Popular Ibadan-based Cleric, Alhaji Taofeek Akeugbagold has expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the release of his twins from their kidnappers.

www.naijatodaynews.com had earlier reported how Akeugbagold revealed that his children had been released to him by their kidnappers around 5 am on Sunday morning.

Speaking with BBC News Yoruba, Akeugbagold disclosed that the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Mutiu Onimalu, Sunday Igboho and several individuals played vital roles in the release of the children.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Oyo state command of the Nigeria Police Force for playing a diligent role to ensure the return of his kids.

He said, “I thank everyone who was there for me and my family during the period, I thank the Oyo State command of the Police Force, I thank courageous people who were there for me like Alhaji Mutiy Onimalu, Sunday Igboho.

“I also thank everyone who supported us financially to gather the ransom we paid including the former governor of the state, Abiola Ajimobi, who I worked for. He did not forget me when I had problem.

“I also thank Governor Seyi Makinde even if I did not hear his voice; but, if he did not talk with the police force they might not take my issue that seriously.”

He then urged government at all levels in the country to develop the security sector because his experience during this period made him realize that Nigeria has more problem than we think.

He stressed that what he experienced could have happened to anyone, noting that, sometimes the security personnel want to perform their duties diligently but they don’t have enough equipment.

He also thanked the kidnappers for showing that they have human feelings too.

When asked the exact amount he paid as ransom to secure the release of the children, he said, ” I will never disclose that.”
