SECURITY: Amotekun Officials Can Be Sued; IF Found Guilty — Oyo Deputy Speaker(Fadeyi)

They Deputy Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Fadeyi disclosed that the yet-to-be recruited officials of South West Security Network code named ‘Amotekun Security Network in the state can be sued, if they are found of gross misconduct or perpetrating heinous crimes.


Fadeyi made the disclosure while appearing as a guest on Political Circuit anchored by the ace Broadcasters: Isaac Brown, Ademola Babalola and Oladele of Fresh FM, Ibadan, the state capital of Oyo State.


Fadeyi who represented Ona-Ara State Constituency at Oyo House of Assembly said that Amotekun Officials should not be spared,if they are found of perpetrating heinous crimes and gross misconduct among others.


He reiterated that it was a law that brought Amotekun Security Network into place, stressing that everything must be legislatively done to ensure that its officials do not abuse the power or exercising autocratic power capable of bringing the outfit into disrepute.


On prevention of COVID-19 known as Corona virus, the parliamentarian said the house and executives were collectively and harmoniously doing everything possible to ensure and ascertain that the virus in not extended to Oyo, adding that Governor Seyi Makinde led administration was committed to improvement of health of the people of the state as he is leaving no stone unturned to achieve greatly on health as one of his cardinal blueprints.


On the issue of of the sacked chairmen, the lawmaker said he could not speak authoritatively on the matter that is before the court of competent jurisdiction, stressing that the case could not be preempted as the judicial arm of government remains an arbiter and hope of the masses that hears and dispenses justice accordingly.


Fadeyi added that based on allegation of financial recklessness and total use of power levelled against the sacked chairmen, hinted that people should wait for outcome of the reports as he could not predict before the committee report would be made available.


He said that the proposed immunity for the speaker and other principal officers was a mere rumour, grapevine and speculation which the people of Oyo should not be taken serious.
Fadeyi said that the current parliamentarians in the state were doing things regardless of political sentiments and acrimony to make laws and carry out their oversight functions for the benefit of the people of Oyo State.


He enjoined all and sundry in the state to support Governor Seyi Makinde led administration, stressing that his support would no doubt give birth to progressive governance.
